MIKKI GUBKA

Guided by faith and the belief that family always comes first, Mikki Gubka is a devoted wife, mom of four, and passionate advocate for families and community. Outside of work, you’ll often find her with her husband and kids hiking, trail riding, kayaking, or simply enjoying the wildlife. One thing her family will all agree on: the grass never grows under her feet.

Mikki began her professional journey as a cosmetologist in 2004, later owning and operating MG Hair Studios and Spa in Watertown, SD for 11 years. In 2020, her salon was named one of the Top 100 Salons in the Nation. After her husband accepted a role with the City of Box Elder in 2021, their family relocated—and she soon transitioned into Economic Development department as the Events Coordinator for the City of Box Elder, where she leads community events and engagement efforts.

With over 20 years of experience in business management, marketing, and event planning, Mikki brings a wealth of knowledge and energy to her role as Vice President of the Board. She joined the Board in 2023 and has been involved with the Children’s Museum project since its earliest stages. Her dedication to this mission is deeply personal. Mikki’s late younger sister was diagnosed with Juvenile Batten Disease at the age of eight, and witnessing her journey gave Mikki a profound appreciation for the power of joyful, inclusive experiences—even in life’s most difficult seasons.

Mikki is honored to help bring the vision of the Children’s Museum to life—a place where all children, regardless of ability, can laugh, learn, and explore. For her, the museum represents more than just play; it’s a space of healing, connection, and unforgettable memories for families throughout the region.
